Cleansing Negative Thinking with Gratitude

Some negative thinking can be deeply ingrained. The emotions of fear, anger, sadness, guilt and shame behind the thoughts, may be pointing to underlying issues that need healing.  These issues may be part of trauma from early childhood.  We can so often suppress issues that then lie dormant within us, until we are triggered, becoming reactive to someone, or something.  This is a strong indication of where we have been wounded emotionally. 

 

In my personal journey, I became aware of the power of expressing gratitude to cleanse and shift my focus around persistent negative thoughts. When I am aware of being stuck in a negative thought pattern, I now switch to focusing instead on what I am grateful for in that moment.  I find it works wonders. I immediately feel a lift in my energy, a delight in what I am grateful for, and a change in how I view the world around me.
