Learn How to Meditate - Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of "Learn to Meditate in 5 Days" - a free audio course I've created to take the mystery out of learning to meditate.

This course is designed to help you to focus and calm your mind beginning Day 1 with easy-to-follow, step-by-step voice instructions. As each meditation practice day unfolds, the voice instructions will lessen and the pauses will lengthen until you are meditating for 10 minutes by Day 5. My voice is there to help you. It is simply a tool to use as you begin your practice. In time as you gain confidence and experience, I encourage you to let go of the voice instructions altogether.

 

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

 

 

Preparation

 

Choose a room or space where you can be by yourself. Turn off appliances such as TV, radio, telephones and mobiles. Also, avoid other distractions such as music and incense for this particular meditation practice. Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing, making sure there is no tightness at your hips, waist and chest. Have the air temperature to suit you but not so hot as to make you drowsy.

 

Posture

 

Sit on a straight back chair preferably with your back unsupported. If this isn't possible, lean against the back of the chair. Have your feet flat on the floor and slightly apart. Rest your hands together in your lap. Hold your head erect and level. Let your gaze be soft.

 

Today's meditation is 10 minutes long. If you wish to practice for longer, continue the practice as instructed after the audio ends.
